Sugar Addiction: The Perpetual Cycle

Sugar effects our insulin production which is the carrier hormone in our bodies. By eating too much sugar it throws our insulin production out of wack causing multiple negative effects in our bodies including weight gain. Different carbohydrates effect our insulin levels differently in terms of insulin production which is why we must use the glycemic index to judge which carbs we should and shouldn’t eat. Simple sugars are digested quickly and effect our levels the worst, while more complex carbs are have a slower absorption. Foods that contain fiber are also digested slowly giving us a better end result on our blood sugar levels, which is one of the many reasons why we should try to be adding fiber into our diet.
To kick sugar we really need to go through a three day detox from this highly addictive substance. You may give in the first time you try to kick sugar, and you will probably feel guilty, but instead of letting it bring you down let it motivate you to not to give in the next time.
